Tomorrow we leave on a trip of a lifetime to India. This is something I have dreamed about for years and to move it beyond the dream, I set a deadline of watching the sun rise over the Taj Mahal before my 40th birthday. Well I’m going to watch the sun rise over the Taj Mahal on my 40th birthday and I’m bringing my husband and daughter along for the auto-rickshaw ride.
With only a month, though a miraculous month considering the lack of vacation in the U.S., we are only touching a minute part of the country. The first half of trip will be spend in the north, including Agra for my birthday, Diwali in Delhi where we will be joined by President and Mrs. Obama, and a week and a half touring Rajasthan including Tiger Safaris and the Camel Fair. The second half will be spent in the south, largely in Kerala with a few days around Chennai with less time spent sightseeing and more time spent exploring.
Over the next few weeks, my posts will be brief and probably erratic, but I will share some of our experiences in at least photographs. Hopefully, it will inspire some of you to start planning a trip of a lifetime.
